Nature

Waterfall

Visit Mount Field National Park, 15 minutes from the cottage and home of the magnificent Russell Falls. There are many spectacular walks through ancient trees. The walks suit all needs with wheel chair access to the famous Russell Falls to day long hikes to see the magnificent mountain views.
Drive further down the road to visit Lake Pedder and Lake Gordon for the opportunity to see one of Hydro Tasmania's largest lakes.
Lake St Clair, a five minute drive from Derwent Bridge, provides walks for all grades or for those who wish to take things at a gentler pace, a leisurely stroll along the lakes banks or even take a ferry ride.
Walking the countryside during autumn gives another view of the beauty of this area. See the changing autumn colours of the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands.
Visits in winter with snow covered tops in the Mount Field National Park add a new dimension to bush walking.

Wildlife and Sport

Golfball and Hole

The "Something Wild - Wildlife Sanctuary" on the Gordon River Rd, provides the opportunity to see the varied wild life of Tasmania.
For those who enjoy fishing there is plenty of choice for trout fishing in the area.
Golfers are well catered for with Bothwell, Australia's oldest golf course, and the golf museum.

History

Visit the historic towns in the area. Hamilton has many restored and classified buildings and fine gardens to admire. There are galleries and craft centers to visit in addition to taking tea in one of the local cafes.
South of Fentonbury there is the town of New Norfolk. Here is opportunity to see many more historic buildings and visit museums such as the Convict Connection or the Hop Museum.
